Summary:


The System Medical Director of Quality & Safety is a key clinical leader responsible for executing the strategic vision, daily operations, and direct oversight of the health system’s Clinical Quality and Patient Safety departments. Serving as the vital link between administration, operational leadership, the System Chief Medical Officer, and the medical staff. This role is instrumental in fostering a \"Zero Harm\" culture and high reliability, ensuring the integrity of clinical data, the effective management of patient grievances, ensures that Root Cause Analyses (RCAs) are conducted effectively and timely, driving physician alignment, and ensuring the delivery of high-value, evidence-based care system-wide to reduce patient harm and improve patient outcomes.


Other information:


1. Education: Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school required; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA), Medical Management (MMM), Business (MBA), or Public Health (MPH) is strongly preferred.


2. Certifications and Licensures: Current, active, and unencumbered medical license (MD or DO) in the state of practice; Active Board Certification in a recognized medical specialty; Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS), or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) are strongly preferred.


3. Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of active clinical practice post-residency; Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive medical leadership experience (e.g., Medical Director, Department Chair, Quality Committee Chair, or Peer Review leadership) within an acute care hospital system; Demonstrated experience utilizing clinical data to drive performance improvement and change management among physician peers; Strong understanding of CMS guidelines, TJC accreditation standards, and national quality metrics.


This job will be authorized80.00 hours bi-weekly.
