System Medical Director - Interventional Cardiology

Hartford HealthCare seeks an accomplished interventional cardiologist to serve as System Medical Director of Interventional Cardiology and Medical Director of the Hartford Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Laboratories. In this leadership role, the physician will drive strategic growth, clinical excellence, quality, innovation, and operational performance across the system's interventional cardiology programs. Working closely with executive, physician, and operational leaders, the successful candidate will advance a unified cardiovascular service line focused on outstanding outcomes and program expansion.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a system-wide vision for interventional cardiology, advancing coronary, peripheral vascular, structural heart, mechanical circulatory support, and STEMI programs.
• Strengthen integration across HVI regions and hospitals to expand access, referral networks, recruitment, and program development.
• Establish standardized, evidence-based clinical practices and lead quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives.
• Provide physician oversight of Hartford Hospital's catheterization laboratories while partnering with nursing and operational leaders to improve efficiency, capacity, and throughput.
• Promote clinical research, innovation, and academic excellence, including expanding participation in clinical trials and investigator-initiated studies.
• Support physician development, fellowship education, and multidisciplinary training to enhance HVI's academic and national reputation.
• Partner on strategic planning, budgeting, capital investments, technology adoption, and growth initiatives.
• Evaluate and implement innovative technologies and therapies while optimizing clinical outcomes and ACC-NCDR benchmark performance.

Qualifications

• Board-certified in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Disease.
• Minimum of 8–10 years of post-fellowship clinical experience, with demonstrated leadership experience in a large, complex cardiovascular program or health system.
