We are seeking a skilled Systems Integration Engineer to join our team in Tampa, Florida. The Systems Integration Engineer is responsible for hands-on integration and testing activities in a government-funded software and hardware integration laboratory for a Department of Defense (DoD) program office. This role focuses on enabling software-in-the-loop (SITL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) testing of government-developed open software integrated with Government-Off-The-Shelf (GOTS) and commercially procured hardware.

The engineer will operate with autonomy in a dynamic environment, building test harnesses, performing board bring-up, loading software images, configuring networks and devices, executing automated tests, and documenting results. They will thrive in ambiguity, demonstrate self-starting initiative, and bring energy and curiosity to problem-solving.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Build and maintain test harnesses for SITL and HITL environments.
  • Perform board bring-up, load software images, and configure network settings and peripheral devices.
  • Conduct SITL and HITL testing of government software integrated with GOTS and COTS hardware.
  • Build, execute, and troubleshoot automated test scripts.
  • Support hardware/software bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Evaluate candidate technologies for potential inclusion into the program.
  • Support integration events, demonstrations, and exercises.
  • Document test plans, procedures, execution steps, and results.
  • Provide technical status updates to the Scrum Master and leadership as required.
  • Use Jira and Confluence to track lab work, test execution, and documentation
  • Use Git, GitLab, Nexus, and TestRail to support version control, CI/CD, artifact management, and test management
  • Participate in SAFe ceremonies (PI Planning, sprint planning, reviews, system demos)

Requirements

Location: This position is 100% onsite and based in Tampa, Florida. This is an onsite position in the Integration Lab, located near MacDill AFB, FL No remote or hybrid options are available.

Necessary Skills and Experience:

  • 5 years of hands-on experience with integration and testing in a lab or technical environment
  • Proficiency with bench equipment: Oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, signal generators, power supplies;
    soldering and PCB rework tools.
  • Experience with embedded hardware/software bring-up, including board bring-up and loading software images.
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Rust for test automation and scripting.
  • Experience with UART, JTAG, low-level debugging, network configuration, and device setup.
  • Experience building and executing automated tests.
  • Experience documenting test procedures and results.
  • Familiarity with SAFe Agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and version control tools (Git, GitLab).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field. (Master’s degree preferred.)
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments, self-start with initiative, and bring energy and curiosity to challenges.
  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time to support company events. Events may run for extended periods, typically up to 4 weeks at a time Travel will include on-site presence to assist with event setup, coordination, and overall support. Flexibility in schedule and ability to work in different locations as needed is essential.
  • Must have an active U.S. government Top Secret security clearance and be SCI eligible. (TS/SCI)
  • U.S. citizenship is required to obtain security clearances.
  • Willingness to relocate to Tampa, FL

Beneficial Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Prior DoD or government program experience
  • Familiarity with MOSA / open systems architectures
  • Experience supporting formal government integration or test events
  • Experience in DoD programs and drone (UAS) development
  • Experience developing drone/UAS flight management software and autonomous systems management software
  • Expertise in designing and deploying fault-tolerant systems in DDIL environments
  • Experience authoring comprehensive lab or test plans and reports.
