Job TitleLead Applications And Systems Engineer For Capacitance Gauging ProgramJob DescriptionAs the lead applications and systems engineer for the capacitance gauging program you will become the domain expert in the application of capacitance sensing to solve positioning problems in highly precise measurement and process control tools for the semiconductor industry.Primary responsibilities include system integration, validation, troubleshooting, calibration, manufacturing support, documentation, and internal/external technical support.This engineer works closely with system, mechanical, software, manufacturing, applications, and sales teams to ensure robust product performance throughout the product lifecycle.System EngineeringIntegrate capacitance gauging technology into KLA's portfolio of metrology and process control systemsCharacterize the electronic and signal behavior of sensor gauging systems applied to a wide variety of settings, e.g. servocontrol, vacuum chamber, semiconductor metrologyAdapt gauges, probes, and electrical architecture to subsystem requirements on new KLA tools.Perform feasibility studies exploring new use-cases in KLA productsMaintain and present technical documentation from feasibility studies through the complete design review cycle.Application EngineeringApply capacitance sensor and gauge technologies to precision machine control and metrology problems.Provide technical support to external customers, applications engineers, and sales teams, including application feasibility assessments and issue resolution. Collaborate with key customers as the primary point of contact.Sustaining EngineeringSupport existing capacitance sensing product line.Support capacitance sensor and gauge engineering efforts by analyzing system behavior, validating performance, and resolving electrical and sensor-related issues.Perform electrical analysis and evaluation of circuits and subsystems, including signal integrity, noise performance, power distribution, and grounding.Troubleshoot electrical and sensor-related issues down to the component level using standard lab equipment.Diagnose EMI/EMC, noise, grounding, and sensor performance issues in complex electromechanical systems.Gathering and documenting project requirementsExecute engineering change ordersRequired Technical SkillsElectrical & Systems KnowledgeStrong system-level engineering skills with the ability to analyze and support complex electrical systems.Knowledge of analog and digital electronics, including:Amplifiers and low-noise signal conditioningA/D and D/A conversionPower supply regulators and distributionFilters, grounding, and shieldingEMI/EMC fundamentalsSensors & ControlExperience with capacitance gauge or capacitive sensor systems.Electro-mechanical control systems and precision motion systems.Sensor calibration and performance characterization.Software & Data AcquisitionLabVIEW experience for diagnostics, calibration, and test utilities.Familiarity with NI DAQ hardware.Experience interfacing with sensors and controllers using SPI, I²C, and UART.Debug & Lab SkillsStrong troubleshooting skills to the component level.Ability to read, review, and update electrical schematics.Proficient use of oscilloscopes, DVMs, and standard lab instruments.Education & ExperienceBS in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 8+ years of relevant experience ORMS in Electrical Engineering or Physics with 5+ years of relevant experienceExperience in precision instrumentation, sensors, semiconductor equipment, or advanced electromechanical systems is strongly preferred.Personal AttributesHands-on, detail-oriented engineer with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Effective communicator capable of working across engineering, manufacturing, applications, and sales teams.Minimum QualificationsDoctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
