End Client: New York City Department of Social Services (DSS)
Position Type: Contract
Scope of Project
DSS has a constant increased need for the provision of full systems life cycle applications development on various computer platforms, including a variety of client eligibility and recertification systems, employment/work engagement services, claims systems, etc., that are critical to the operation and functioning of DSS programs, requiring periodic refinements to maintain the applications at optimum service levels. Having a project portfolio which properly reflects the user’s business needs and DSS’ workload is crucial. Therefore, there is a need for IT consulting resources for the expanding responsibilities at DSS.
Develop system design specifications and detailed systems operations designs.
Develop specifications for databases, communication systems, hardware, networks, security, storage, and software configurations.
Develop structured diagrams for databases, communication systems, computer or storage area networks, security, and network programs.
Develop, compile, maintain, and document configurations for databases, servers, computers, security and network monitoring systems, packaged programs, macros, utilities, and communication systems.
Develop system documentation, operational procedures, and installation procedures.
Develop guidelines and upgrade techniques for operational procedures supporting databases, hardware systems, operating systems software, network systems software, security, and client-server systems.
Work with managers, senior programmers, support staff, product managers, and other staff to plan program implementations, enhancements, and changes.
Provide technical assistance to support staff in resolving programming database, and IT issues.
Contact customers as needed to clarify new feature requirements or resolve problems.
Provide programming assistance to other programmers and projects as needed.
Perform system testing and evaluation.
Writing application software, data analysis, data access
Data structures, data manipulation, databases, design, programming, testing and implementation
Technical and user documentation, software conversions
Exposure to environments include but are not limited to mainframe, mid range, personal computers, laptops
Lead in the design of program specifications and the implementation of software solutions
