System Administrator — Omnissa HorizonWe are seeking an experienced System Administrator with hands-on expertise in Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon) for a short-term contract engagement of 1–2 months. The successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, and ongoing management of a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environment built on Omnissa Horizon within a VMware ecosystem. This is a fully remote role requiring immediate availability.
The ideal candidate brings proven, practical experience with Omnissa/VMware Horizon deployments and can hit the ground running with minimal onboarding.Key ResponsibilitiesDeploy, configure, and manage Omnissa Horizon environments including Connection Servers, Unified Access Gateways (UAG), and App VolumesAdminister and optimize VMware vSphere/ESXi infrastructure supporting Horizon deploymentsConfigure and manage desktop pools (persistent and non-persistent/floating), published applications, and Smart PoliciesTroubleshoot and resolve VDI performance, connectivity, and user experience issuesImplement and maintain Horizon security configurations including SSL/TLS, two-factor authentication, and network policiesMonitor infrastructure health and performance using Horizon monitoring tools and VMware vROpsManage user entitlements, group policies, and role-based access control (RBAC) within HorizonCollaborate with network and security teams on firewall rules, DNS, and load balancer configurationsProduce documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and handover materialsSupport end-users and internal IT teams with escalated VDI-related issuesRequired Skills & ExperienceMandatory3–6 years of system administration experience with a focus on VDI/virtual desktop environmentsHands-on implementation and management experience with Omnissa Horizon (v7.x, 8.x, or later)Strong working knowledge of VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenterExperience deploying and configuring Unified Access Gateway (UAG) and Connection ServersProficiency with Horizon desktop pools, App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM)Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server environmentsFamiliarity with networking fundamentals: DNS, DHCP, VLANs, load balancing, firewall rulesExperience with SSL certificates management and Horizon security hardeningNice to HaveVMware Certified Professional — Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM) or equivalent certificationExperience with VMware NSX or NSX-T networkingFamiliarity with cloud-hosted Horizon deployments (Azure VMware Solution, AWS SDDC)Exposure to Workspace ONE / Unified Endpoint Management (UEM)Scripting skills (PowerShell, Python) for automation of Horizon management tasksExperience with monitoring tools such as VMware vROps, Lakeside SysTrack, or ControlUpQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field — or equivalent practical experienceVMware or Omnissa certifications strongly preferred (VCP-DTM, VCAP-DTM, or equivalent)Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently in a remote settingAvailability to start immediately upon contract execution
