Switchboard OperatorInnovation At Work, Inc. is seeking professional and reliable Switchboard Operators to support 24/7 communication operations at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in Bronx, NY.

This role is responsible for managing high-volume incoming calls, routing communications accurately, and supporting critical hospital communication functions including emergency notifications and overhead paging.Available shifts (24/7 coverage required):Weekday shifts (Monday – Friday):- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM- Evening shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM- Overnight shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AMWeekend & holiday shifts:- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM- Evening shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM- Overnight shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AMSchedules will be assigned based on operational needs. Candidates must be flexible to work weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts.Key responsibilities:- Operate multi-line telephone switchboard systems in a high-volume environment- Answer and route incoming calls to appropriate departments, staff, and on-call personnel- Initiate overhead paging announcements and emergency code communications- Maintain accurate logs of calls, messages, and critical communications- Provide information and assistance to patients, visitors, and staff in a professional manner- Monitor and respond to urgent and routine communication requests- Ensure timely and accurate message delivery across departments- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and Privacy Act requirementsRequirements:Minimum qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a call center, switchboard, or customer service role- Ability to handle high call volumes in a fast-paced environment- Strong verbal communication and listening skills- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, call logging systems)- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
