JMT is currently ranked #45 on Engineering News-Record's list of the Top 500 Design Firms.Position Summary: JMT is seeking a Survey Tech II to be responsible for collection of field surveying data, and operation of specific survey instruments for the field crew.Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.Essential Functions and ResponsibilitiesSets up, adjusts, and operates surveying equipment including electronic total station, data collector, and GPS equipment, in order to measure distances, elevations and anglesPerform boundary, topography, ATLA, right of way, and route, control, and construction surveysResponsible for the operation and maintenance of survey equipment, including electronic data collectors, levels, electronic total station, GPS, and survey vehiclesRecord accurate and clear field notesDocument assignmentsCollect data using survey equipmentPerform calculationsNonessential Functions and ResponsibilitiesPerform other related duties as assignedRequired SkillsMust successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screeningValid Driver's License RequiredAble to pass Background CheckRequired ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent2+ years of relevant experienceSkills in mathematics and coordinate geometryFamiliarity with total stations, data collectors, and GPSWorking ConditionsWork is performed in the field 95% of the time.

Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.Work is performed within a general office environment 5% of the time. Office work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking.
