We are partnered with a nationally recognized geospatial and surveying firm with more than 6,000 employees across the United States. Due to continued growth and a strong backlog of large-scale infrastructure, transportation, energy, and land development projects, our client is seeking a Survey Department Manager to lead and expand their Atlanta, Georgia operations. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity offering the chance to oversee a talented team, drive operational excellence, and play a key role in delivering some of the region's most impactful projects.

The Survey Department Manager will be responsible for:

  • Leading the daily operations, performance, and strategic growth of the Survey Department in the Atlanta market.
  • Managing survey managers, project surveyors, field crews, and office staff to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Overseeing the execution of boundary, topographic, construction, ALTA/NSPS, utility, and infrastructure surveys.
  • Establishing and maintaining quality control procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborating with engineering, geospatial, and project management teams on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Supporting business development efforts through client relationship management, proposal development, and project presentations.
  • Managing departmental budgets, staffing forecasts, scheduling, utilization, and overall operational performance.

The Survey Department Manager should have the following qualifications:

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Georgia, or the ability to obtain reciprocity quickly.
  • 10+ years of progressive surveying experience, including leadership and departmental management responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of land surveying principles, geomatics technologies, and industry best practices.
  • Experience managing large-scale transportation, infrastructure, utility, municipal, or land development projects.
  • Proven track record of leading teams, mentoring staff, and developing future survey leaders.
  • Proficiency with modern survey equipment, GPS/GNSS technologies, LiDAR, UAV platforms, and survey software.
  • Excellent communication, client management, and business development skills.
