West Virginia University's Potomac State College (WVU PSC) campus,located in Keyser, West Virginia, offers a 2-year associate'sprogram in Surgical Technology.
The College is seeking to fill theposition of a 12-month, non-tenure-track Surgical TechnologyProgram Director for this program.
The Surgical Technology ProgramDirector will assume the authority and responsibility for alladministrative aspects of the department and will report directlyto Chair of STEM. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:providing leadership in formulation of the departmentadministrative policies; preparing and managing the departmentalbudget in consultation with the Dean and WVU PSC Chief BusinessOfficer; initiating and managing the accreditation of the program,coordinating and teaching surgical technology courses within theprogram, and coordinating clinical rotations for applicablesurgical technology courses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Surgical Technology or an Associate'sdegree and tested experience.
- Previous college teaching experience is valued.

Responsibilities/duties
- Curriculum Development and Management:
- Develop, review, and update the curriculum to align withindustry standards, accreditation requirements, and bestpractices.
- Implement innovative teaching methodologies to enhance studentlearning outcomes.
- Ensure the integration of theory with clinical practice toprovide a comprehensive educational experience.
- Program Administration:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Surgical TechnologyProgram, including budget management, resource allocation, andscheduling.
- Coordinate with faculty and staff to ensure smooth functioningof the program.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to programactivities, student progress, and outcomes assessment.
- Clinical Coordination:
- Establish and maintain affiliations with clinical sites forstudent rotations.
- Supervise and evaluate students during clinical experiences toensure competency and compliance with program requirements.
- Collaborate with clinical partners to evaluate and improve thequality of clinical education.
- Faculty and Staff Management:
- Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate faculty and staff tomaintain a high-quality educational program.
- Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional developmentopportunities for faculty and staff.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuousimprovement within the program.
- Student Support and Advising:
- Provide academic and career advising to students to supporttheir success and progression through the program.
- Monitor student progress and intervene as needed to addressacademic, clinical, or personal challenges.
