Salary Range: $64,972.00 - $97,458.00

Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the team of practitioners providing surgical care to patients. Surgical technologists work under the supervision of a registered nurse (RN) and a surgeon to facilitate surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, the equipment functions properly, and patient safety is maintained. The surgical technologist handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure and has an understanding of the procedure to anticipate the surgeon’s needs. He/she is constantly vigilant for maintenance of the sterile field and is able to function independently in the scrub role and as a circulator under the supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse. This role may require on‑call duties and rotating shifts as well.

Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile field
• Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed
• Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening, maintain sterility while scrubbed, maintain sterility of instruments and supplies
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge and needle counts, following established policies and procedures

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required
• 1-3 years of scrubbing experience - preferred
• Familiar with all specialty services - preferred
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist upon hire - required
• LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse, State Licensure upon hire - required
