Surgical Technologists - Operating Room

Position Overview

Operating Room Surgical Technologist – Night shift (United States of America).

Salary Range: $64,972.00 – $97,458.00. Hourly Range: $28.50/hr – $34.00/hr. The role may require on‑call duties and rotating shifts.

The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a registered nurse and a surgeon to facilitate surgical procedures, ensuring a safe operating room environment, proper functioning of equipment, and patient safety. The role operates independently in the scrub role, or as a circulator under RN supervision.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a sterile field throughout the surgical procedure.
• Prepare operating rooms and assist with patient positioning as needed.
• Inspect sterile items for contamination before opening; maintain sterility while scrubbed.
• Maintain sterility of instruments and supplies.
• Perform accurate instrument, sponge, and needle counts following established policies and procedures.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and assist as directed.
• Operate independently in the scrub role or as a circulator under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program (CST). NYS LPN also acceptable.
• 1 to 3 years of scrubbing experience preferred.
• Familiarity with all specialty services preferred.
