Job Summary
Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist/LPN performs procedures within their scope of practice to provide the safest and most effective service to the patient and surgeon. The Surgical Technologist anticipates the needs of the surgical team, handling and passing instruments, sutures, sponges, and all other necessary sterile equipment as required.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology with one (1) year Operating Room experience preferred. Good communication and decision‑making skills.
Surgical Technology Certification (CST) preferred.
Current BLS certification through any International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) provider courses such as, but not limited to, Ochsner Health System, American Heart Association, and American Red Cross. The ILCOR course must include a manikin check‑off.
Physical Demands
Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting, or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.

- Constant (67%-100%) – reaching, handling/feeling, talking, hearing, seeing
- Frequently (34%-66%) – lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, crouching
- Occasionally (1%-33%) – climbing (stairs, ladders, etc), crawling
