Job Summary:
This role is for a Surgical Technologist in an acute care, Level I trauma center and Magnet hospital. The Surgical Technologist will provide surgical support in a variety of surgical specialties, working a rotating schedule of day and evening shifts, including weekend coverage. The position requires a minimum of three years of experience in a similar setting and proficiency in a wide range of surgical procedures and equipment. On-call responsibilities are required as needed.

Responsibilities:
- Assisting surgeons during surgical procedures across multiple specialties (General Surgery, Gynecology, Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, Urology, ENT, Trauma).
- Preparing surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintaining a sterile surgical field.
- Assisting with patient positioning and draping.
- Handling and labeling specimens.
- Monitoring the patient's vital signs during surgery.
- Performing post-operative cleaning and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
- Adhering to aseptic techniques, isolation precautions, radiation safety, sharps safety, and universal protocol.
- Participating in emergency management procedures (e.g., fire safety).
- Collaborating with the surgical team to ensure efficient and safe surgical procedures.
- Floating within the scope of practice to meet facility needs.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a hospital setting.
- Experience in a Level I trauma center and teaching hospital preferred.
- Proficiency in a wide range of surgical procedures and equipment (detailed in the input).
- Current BLS certification.
- CST certification preferred.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a teaching hospital.
- Experience in a Level I trauma center.
Special Considerations:
- Weekend work is required approximately once a month (16 hours).
- On-call responsibilities are required as needed.
- Must live within 50 miles of the facility.
- Must be in the state of Illinois 3 business days prior to compliance HDD for fingerprinting.
- All time off requests must be reviewed and approved by the manager.
- Up to 36 hours of call-offs are permitted per 13-week assignment without pay; additional call-offs will be billed. On-call shifts in lieu of call-offs count as call-offs.
Scheduling:
- Rotating 5x8-hour shifts: Days (12:45 PM - 9:15 PM) and Evenings (2:45 PM - 11:15 PM).
- Schedule requests can be discussed with the manager.
