Job Summary

Full‑time day position at WDH in Dover, NH – four ten‑hour shifts with minimal call and higher pay rates. Benefits include medical, dental, 10 paid holidays, a 403(b) and a Cash Balance Pension Plan.

Under supervision, the Surgical Technologist assists in operating‑room operations: setting up the OR, preparing and transporting patients for surgery, adjusting lights and equipment, passing instruments and supplies to surgeons and assistants, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and helping to count sponges, needles, and instruments.

Essential Functions

  • Participates in time‑out procedures.
  • Attains extra supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Sets up equipment independently.
  • Participates as an active member of the Patient Care Team.
  • Monitors and continually assesses operating‑room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs.
  • Prepares patients for surgery, including positioning on the operating table and covering with sterile surgical drapes to prevent exposure.
  • Has knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Certificates:
    • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred.
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred.
  • Licenses and Credentials: New Hampshire Medical Technician license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Experience:
    • 2–3 years as a surgical technologist in an acute‑care setting required.
    • 4 years with committee and leadership experience preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
    • Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies.
    • Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items.
