Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Location: Matthews Medical Center, Matthews, NC
Schedule: 2–12‑hour shifts, 11:00 am–11:00 pm with some call coverage.
Responsibilities
The Surgical Technologist works under the supervision of a surgeon and registered nurse to facilitate the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures, ensuring that the operating room environment is safe, that equipment functions properly, and that the operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety. Surgical technologists possess expertise in sterile and aseptic technique and combine knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and implementation tools and technologies to facilitate a physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.
What We're Looking For
- Education : High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Surgical Technology program or Military Training Equivalent (68D – Operating Room Specialist) is preferred.
- Previous Surgical Technologist experience, preferred.
- Current Surgical Tech Certification (CST, TS‑C, NRCST, SA‑C) preferred; required in South Carolina if state specific regulations apply.
- Additional skills: for non‑graduates or non‑certified incumbents, new graduates must obtain certification within 12 months of hire; must successfully complete generic and department‑specific skill validation and competency testing; demonstrate effective customer service, verbal/nonverbal communication, interpersonal relationship skills, and time management skills.
