Summary
The Surgical Technologist is an integral member of the Operating Room team, performing technical duties under direct supervision of a physician or registered nurse. The role assists the registered nurse in creating a safe, supportive, and comforting environment for the patient during surgery. Additionally, the technologist coordinates the planning, replenishment, and delivery of Operating Room supplies and equipment, managing inventory levels, stock replenishment, charges, and order placement to optimize PAR levels within the Operating Room.
Responsibilities
Patient and families are served through providing direct patient care services. Perform duties and manage interpersonal relationships with co‑workers, physicians, and other departments in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital.
Nursing staff and patients are served by providing supplies and equipment for patient use in a timely manner.
Qualifications
Education Requirement
- High School Diploma required. Completion of a Surgical Technologist training program.
Professional Experience Requirement
- Three years of Surgical Technologist experience and/or three years’ experience managing data for purchasing and materials management computerized inventory systems in either a supply or operating room environment.
Licensure/Registration/Certification
- Certified Surgical Technologist preferred.
