Job Details

  • Shift: Mon - Friday; 6:30am to 5pm, rotating day off. Call is required.
  • Work Arrangement: On‑Site
  • Department: Operating Room
  • Facility: Capital Region Medical Center – 1125 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO

Compensation

  • Base Pay Range: $25.32 to $39.99 per hour, based on experience
  • Special Pay: Additional $1.88 per hour until January 2, 2027
  • Retention Rewards:
    • Up to $15,000 total
    • Option 1: $2,000 per year for up to 5 years (total $10,000)
    • Option 2: $2,000 per year toward student loans up to 5 years (total $10,000)
  • Relocation Support: Additional $5,000 if moving from over 50 miles away

Detailed Job Description

  • Anticipates the needs of the surgical team
  • Assists with the teaching of newly hired technologists and student technologists
  • Serves as a role model to new employees and other staff members
  • Communicates effectively with patients, staff members, and physicians
  • Adheres to standards, including unit and hospital policies, regulatory standards, and patient safety goals
  • Demonstrates appropriate and correct case preparation
  • Establishes and maintains sterile field and ensures team maintains sterile environment independently
  • Applies basic knowledge of instrumentations to multiple surgical cases, correcting deficiencies at the case level
  • Performs technical duties involving care, preparation, and maintenance of sterile and non‑sterile supplies and equipment in the operating rooms to provide a safe and effective environment
  • Completes unit/department‑specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • One (1) year of experience as a surgical technologist; alternatively, completion of an accredited surgical tech program, the MU Health Care Surgical Tech program, or military training may be substituted for the experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification by NBSTSA, or Certified Operating Room Surgical Technician (CORST) certification by NHA, or Technician in Surgery – Certified (TS‑C) certification by NCCT
  • Additional license or certification requirements as determined by the hiring department
