Summary
Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the Surgical Technologist I acts as a scrub person who handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, anticipates the needs of the surgeon and surgical team, and has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care. The role also includes assisting with support services in the delivery of care to operative patients, including transportation, independent inventory management, environmental cleanliness, and direct assistance to patients, visitors and staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field.
- Support the surgical team throughout the procedure.
- Assist the Registered Nurse, Anesthesia, and Surgical team in developing a plan of care for each surgical procedure.
Qualifications
- Graduate from an approved Surgical Technologist program.
- CST certification from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) or the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) is required (or obtainable within 12 months of employment and must be maintained).
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant clinical experience as a Surgical Technologist in an OR environment.
- Scrub experience in orthopedics, neuro, and general surgery.
- Strong knowledge of instruments, supplies, and equipment used in operating rooms.
Salary Range
$30.75 - $30.75 per hour.
