Position type: PRN / Per Diem (as‑needed; variable shifts including evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays)
We are seeking a Per Diem/PRN Surgical Technologist for our Fresno location on a per diem/as needed basis for intermittent coverage. The ideal Surgical Technologist candidate supports safe, efficient pre‑ and peri‑operative care by preparing and maintaining the sterile field, anticipating surgeon needs, assisting during procedures, and performing sterile processing tasks. This role is not full time and is thereforenot benefit‑eligible.

Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the OR before, during, and after cases; ensure instruments, supplies, equipment, and sutures are available and functioning.
- Set up instrumentation, trays, implants, and surgeon‑preferred supplies.
- Serve as scrub tech: pass instruments/sutures, hold retractors, provide exposure, suction, sponge wounds, and apply dressings under surgeon supervision.
- Monitor and maintain aseptic technique; report and correct breaks immediately.
- Anticipate surgeon needs and adapt the sterile field during routine and unexpected events.
- Verify and label solutions, medications, and implants with circulating staff; account for sponges, needles, and instruments per policy.
- Collect, label, and handle specimens per facility policy.
- Assist with sterile patient preps, positioning, and safe transport.
- Perform or assist with sterile processing: cleaning, decontaminating, disinfecting, sterilizing instruments; maintain sterilization logs and maintain ultrasonic/sterilizer equipment.
- Assist with room turnover and terminal cleaning.
- Adhere to universal precautions, PPE, hand hygiene, and infection control surveillance.
- Participate in emergency preparedness drills, in‑service training, and staff meetings.
- Communicate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, patients, and families.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- Accept on‑call/shift assignments as needed; may need to be flexible for short‑notice scheduling.
- Maintain readiness across a range of case types at the Fresno facility.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program or equivalent training per California regulations.
- Current certification/credentials as required by facility or state (e.g., CST) — if applicable.
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Demonstrated aseptic technique, attention to detail, reliability, and confidence in the OR.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to respond appropriately to perioperative cases and able to seek assistance when needed.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform OR duties (lifting, bending, moving equipment/patients).
Preferred
- Previous experience in an Aesthetic Surgical or Plastics surgery center or hospital OR.
