Education and Experience
Graduation from a Surgical Technology program or from an accredited school of Nursing.
Licensure and Certification
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required. Certification in specialty area preferred.
Essential Functions
- Ensures quality patient care, safety, and advocacy through critical thinking, anticipation and management of case specific needs, under direct supervision of the RN.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely care, cleanliness and management of instruments, equipment and supplies.
- Communicates to the team, co‑workers and patients in an effective, positive and professional manner.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Demonstrates cost containment activities of instruments and inventory.

Work Environment
Possible exposure to infections and contagious diseases, hazardous anesthetic agents, body fluids and wastes; possible exposure to toxic chemicals and radiation; handles emergency or crisis situations; subject to many interruptions; highly stressful and crowded, noisy conditions.
Physical Requirements
Standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching with arms, finger and hand dexterity, talking, hearing, seeing. Lifting: up to 20 lbs. maximum, 50 lbs. maximum, 100 lbs. maximum.

Job Duties
Renders care to assigned patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN) including assisting with direct patient care activities; preparing and stocking the operating room before and after surgery; gathering clean and sterile supplies; setting up sterile instrument fields; maintaining and monitoring aseptic techniques.
