Surgical Technologist

Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist is responsible for handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. The role requires understanding the surgical procedures to anticipate the surgeon's needs effectively. This position demands strong attention to detail, adherence to sterile techniques, and the ability to work collaboratively within the surgical team to ensure patient safety and procedure efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and handle surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment needed during operations.
• Assist in setting up the operating room and ensure all necessary materials are sterile and ready.
• Anticipate the needs of the surgeon by understanding the surgical procedure being performed.
• Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols throughout the procedure.
• Assist with the safe handling and disposal of surgical specimens and sharps.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth workflow and patient safety.
• Participate in post-operative room cleanup and instrument sterilization processes.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
• Knowledge of surgical instruments, supplies, and sterile techniques.
• Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and respond promptly.
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Previous experience in a surgical technologist role preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with a variety of surgical procedures and specialties.
• Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) is advantageous.

Special Considerations:

• Travelers must meet performance expectations; contracts may be terminated immediately if standards are not met.
• Must comply with sterile environment protocols and surgical safety standards.
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position.

Scheduling:

• Work schedules and shifts are assigned based on facility needs and surgical case load.
• May require flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, or weekends.
