Job Summary

Assists the surgical team with operating room preparation and surgical procedures by maintaining the sterile field, preparing instruments and supplies, passing instruments and medications, and supporting surgeons during cases.

Essential Functions

• Prepare surgical cases, instruments, supplies, and equipment.


• Set up and maintain a sterile field using proper aseptic technique.


• Pass instruments, supplies, and medications during procedures.


• Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the RN.


• Maintain surgical equipment and specialty inventory.


• Clean equipment and maintain an organized operating room.


• Collect case data and perform required clerical duties.


• Transport patients according to unit needs and priorities.


• Label solutions according to established standards.


• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED — Required


• Associate’s/Technical Degree — Preferred


• Scrub technician experience — Preferred


• Operating room experience and/or training — Preferred


• Surgery Technician Certification — Preferred


• BLS/CPR certification from an approved vendor — Required


• CNA Certification — Preferred
