Surgical Technician I

Role Overview

The OR Tech I is a member of the surgical team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to assist surgeons and deliver patient care before, during, and after surgery. The role involves acting as a scrub technician across various service lines including robotics, vascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases, and trauma.

The OR Tech I is a member of the surgical team, working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse to assist surgeons and deliver patient care before, during, and after surgery. The role involves acting as a scrub technician across various service lines including robotics, vascular, neurovascular, general, thoracic, neuro/spine, orthopedics, complex plastic cases, and trauma.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in surgical procedures by preparing and handling instruments and supplies
• Maintain sterile field and ensure proper patient positioning and safety
• Support the surgical team during operations and ensure efficient workflow
• Communicate effectively with team members and respond to patient needs

Qualifications & Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Surgical Technician training program
• 2-3 years of experience in surgical settings
• Strong knowledge and skills in scrubbing for various surgical service lines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask, work independently, and be flexible

Certifications & Licenses

• Certified Surgical Technician
• NBSTSA Certification
• Current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification (American Heart Association)

Key Duties

• Provide technical assistance during surgeries
• Ensure adherence to sterile protocols and safety standards
• Collaborate with surgical team members to deliver optimal patient care
