- Assemble supplies for surgical procedures
- Set up and maintain the sterile field
- Pass surgical instruments
- Assist with room preparation
- Coordinate care and anticipate the needs of the surgical case
- Assist surgeons, nurses, and other team members to provide optimal patient outcomes
- Collaborate with clinic providers, fellows, and staff
- Assess surgical procedures
- Ensure availability of appropriate instrumentation, supplies, and equipment
- Prepare operating rooms for upcoming cases
- Clean, arrange, and transport instruments according to department policy
- Independently assist with instrument reprocessing when assigned cases are completed and time permits
- Ensure operating rooms are ready for the following day's cases
- Apply practical knowledge of operating room equipment, maintenance, and safety
- Utilize communication tools and demonstrate teamwork
- Share knowledge and expertise with staff
- Attend departmental in-services and educational offerings
- Incorporate new knowledge and skills into clinical practice
- Learn new techniques
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Graduate of NBSTSA-accredited Surgical Technology program OR graduate of NCCT-approved Surgical Technology program OR completed military surgical/scrub tech training OR have two or more years of on-the-job surgical/scrub experience in an acute care facility or ambulatory surgery center
- Current Operating Room experience
- Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment
