Job Summary:
The Surgical Tech is responsible for providing support in the operating room, assisting surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the operating room, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly, and maintaining a sterile environment. The Surgical Tech will also be responsible for various case skills, including General OR, Teaching Hospital, and Trauma.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare the operating room with necessary equipment and supplies.
- Assist surgeons and nurses during surgical procedures.
- Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room.
- Ensure equipment is functioning correctly.
- Provide support for various surgical cases, including General OR, Teaching Hospital, and Trauma cases.
- Perform Direct Laryngoscopy, Radial neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and Tracheostomy for Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) cases.
- Assist with Colonoscopy, EGD, and Peg tube placement/exchange for Endoscopic procedures.
- Support General Surgery cases, including Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection - Open/LAP, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, and Thyroidectomy partial/total.
- Assist with Gynecology cases, including Abdominal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior repair, Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, and Vaginal Hysterectomy.
- Support Neurosurgery cases, including Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, and Lumbar fusion.
- Assist with Oral cases, including Repair of fractured jaws, mandibular and zygomatic.
- Support Orthopedic cases, including Arthroscopy, Arthrotomy, Carpal tunnel release, and Closed/Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy.
- Assist with Plastic Surgery cases, including Free Flap - Microvascular.
- Support Trauma cases, including Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA (multiple injuries).
- Assist with Urology cases, including Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Nephrectomy, and Ureteroscopy.
- Manage Emergency situations, including Fire Safety.
- Operate Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies, including Drills (multiple types), Electrosurgical units, and Fiber optic light sources/cords.
- Apply Professional Knowledge and Skills, including Aseptic Technique, Isolation Precautions, Radiation Safety, Sharps Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Surgical Tech.
- BLS certification.
- Experience with General OR, Teaching Hospital, and Trauma settings.
- Experience with Direct Laryngoscopy, Radial neck dissection, Tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy, and Tracheostomy for Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) cases.
- Experience with Colonoscopy, EGD, and Peg tube placement/exchange for Endoscopic procedures.
- Experience with Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Colon resection - Open/LAP, Hernia repair inguinal/umbilical, Laparoscopic assisted procedures, Mastectomy, and Thyroidectomy partial/total for General Surgery cases.
- Experience with Abdominal hysterectomy, Anterior/Posterior repair, Bilateral tubal ligation, Dilation & Curettage, Laparoscopic assisted gynecological procedures, and Vaginal Hysterectomy for Gynecology cases.
- Experience with Craniotomy, Laminectomy/discectomy, and Lumbar fusion for Neurosurgery cases.
- Experience with Repair of fractured jaws, mandibular and zygomatic for Oral cases.
- Experience with Arthroscopy, Arthrotomy, Carpal tunnel release, and Closed/Open reduction of fractures, Laminectomy/discectomy for Orthopedic cases.
- Experience with Free Flap - Microvascular for Plastic Surgery cases.
- Experience with Amputations, Gunshot/stab wounds, and MVA (multiple injuries) for Trauma cases.
- Experience with Cystoscopy, Laparoscopic assisted cases, Nephrectomy, and Ureteroscopy for Urology cases.
- Knowledge of Fire Safety in Emergency Management.
- Experience with Drills (multiple types), Electrosurgical units, and Fiber optic light sources/cords for Equipment/Instrumentation/Supplies.
- Knowledge of Aseptic Technique, Isolation Precautions, Radiation Safety, Sharps Safety, Specimen Handling/Labeling, and Universal Protocol (Time out) Procedure.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- CST certification.
- Teaching Hospital experience.
- Trauma Level I experience.
