Job Overview
Full‑time night position (36 hours) covering Sunday, Monday & Tuesday overnights at WDH in Dover, NH. Hiring new graduates, experienced Surgical Technologists and First Assistants. $10,000 sign‑on bonus and career ladder for Surgical Technologists. Minimal call and higher pay rates. Benefits include medical, dental, 10 paid holidays, a 403(b) and a Cash Balance Pension Plan.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, assists in operations. May help set up the operating room, prepare and transport patients for surgery, adjust lights and equipment, pass instruments and other supplies to surgeons and assistants, hold retractors, cut sutures, and help count sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments. The position requires patient care.
Essential Functions
- Participates in time‑out procedures.
- Attains extra supplies and equipment as needed.
- Sets up equipment independently.
- Participates as an active member of the Patient Care Team.
- Monitors and continually assesses operating room conditions, including patient and surgical team needs.
- Prepares patients for surgery, including positioning patients on the operating table and covering them with sterile surgical drapes.
- Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required. No experience in lieu of a degree accepted.
Licenses and Credentials
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
- NH Medical Technician license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS)
BLS required.
Experience
Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting 2–3 years preferred. Four (4) years experience preferred; committee and leadership experience 3–5 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast‑paced clinical environment.
- Advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items required.
