Position Overview

Join a highly collaborative Surgical Subspecialties team of 22 physicians and 9 Physician Assistants that prides itself on exceptional teamwork, communication, and provider autonomy. This role offers extensive hands‑on surgical experience as a first‑assist in the OR, along with responsibility for ED and inpatient consults, admissions, rounding, discharges, and invasive bedside procedures. You will gain exposure to a diverse case mix spanning General, Thoracic, Vascular, Colorectal, and Plastic Surgery, including robotic‑assisted procedures, vascular interventions, breast reconstruction, thoracic surgery, and more. Ideal for Physician Assistants seeking diverse surgical experience, procedural autonomy, and the opportunity to practice at the top of their license.

Location & Schedule

  • Location: 71 Haynes St, Manchester, CT
  • Setting: Inpatient, surgery, surgical subspecialties
  • Schedule: Full‑time nights with flexible schedule; premium differentials offered
  • Shift: Mon‑Sun
  • Call schedule: None

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform first assist in the operating room for a variety of surgical procedures
  • Provide emergency department and inpatient consults, admissions, rounding, and discharges
  • Conduct invasive bedside procedures as required
  • Assist with robotic‑assisted and vascular interventions and other subspecialty surgeries
  • Collaborate with physician and care team members to develop patient care plans

Scope of Practice

  • Perform routine physical examinations and formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs in consultation with physician and care team members
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of practice as designated by protocols and refer outside‑scope issues to physicians

Qualifications

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Certified or board‑eligible Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Physician Assistant in surgery or related setting
