This is a part‑time day shift role working either two 12‑hour shifts from 6:30 am–7:00 pm or three 8‑hour shifts from 11:00 am–7:30 pm. On‑call and holiday required.
Responsibilities
CSTs provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. They assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation, and assist the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards. They assist in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure, ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation, and supplies. They work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other surgical personnel.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Ability to resource advanced technology.
- 15 continuing education units annually as required by state law.
- Knowledge of various surgical procedures to anticipate the needs of the surgeon and recognize problems encountered within 12 months of employment.
- Knowledge of the name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
- Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of the sterile field.
