Work Schedule

This is a part‑time, day‑shift role working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. No weekends or holidays are required.

Responsibilities

Surgical Skilled Technologists provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. They assist in ensuring the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment, supplies and instrumentation in the operating room prior to each operation. They provide assistance to the surgeon in the operating room as allowed by professional and legal standards, and assist in the turnover of the operating room after the procedure, ensuring proper routing and/or processing of all specimens, equipment, instrumentation and supplies. They work as a member of the surgical team with surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses and other surgical personnel.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification as a Certified Surgical Technologist obtained from the NBSTSA within four months of employment.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Ability to resource advanced technology.
  • Fifteen continuing education units annually as required by state law.
  • Knowledge of various surgical procedures within twelve months of employment, enabling anticipation of the surgeon’s needs and recognition of problems encountered during surgery.
  • Knowledge of the name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation.
  • Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding the maintenance of a sterile field.
