Orthopedic Surgeon Opportunity
Position requires privileging process to start (approximately 90-120 days from time signed): Privileging is an internal compliance process, separate to ours, where the hospital evaluates a practitioner's education, certifications, and clinical competence to authorize their specific scope of practice in the operating room. It involves credential verification, and then a medical staff committee review. Should realistically take 2-3 months. Start date: Candidate must complete privileging process prior to start. See above. Schedule: Weekdays only Minimum experience: 5 years; 1st timers not accepted Patient population: Adults to geriatrics Certifications required: BLS, CSFA or NBSTSA or NCCSA General skills and work setting requirements: Level 3 trauma center - ortho/spine/neuro/podiatry, spine to include ALIFS, XLIFs, TLIFs, ACDFs. Ortho trauma (gamma nails, TFNs, bipolar hips), robotics (GYN/urology/general), vascular, general, colorectal, cysto/urology, GYN, breast reconstruction, organ procurements DCD only. Synthes (preferred for trauma orthopedics), Stryker, and Biomet Zimmer ortho vendors. Stryker spine and Nuvasive, neuro crani (Biomet plating system), spine and robotic experience required. Vascular is also a plus as well. We do not perform ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, transplants, hearts, whipples, liver ablations, ORIF acetabulum, oral-maxillofacial surgery. Most GYN procedures are performed in our outpatient facility within the hospital. Ratio/census: 7 OR rooms with average daily case volume of 22-30 Unit systems: Arthrex tower, Olympus lap video equipment, Allen and OSI spine/fx tables, Hanna table, Mayfield headrest, Covidian FX-10 generator with Ligasure, Novasure, Stryker PI drills, Stryker 8 power, Stryker, Davinci XI Scrub color: Provided by the facility RTO: MAX 7 days Weekends (if applicable): Weekend team includes 2 in-house RNs (one can scrub) and on-call procedure support tech 7A-7P, we run (1) room on weekends and there is BU team if needed for an emergent case while in-house team in a room. Floating: None Call requirements: We have an OR team in-house nights 24/7 and two teams 7A-7P. Call averages 4 shifts per six weeks as back-up with a 30 min response time, if a 1st call, (if someone is on vacation/calls out - must be in-house) Holidays: If one major holiday falls in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work it. If two major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work both of the holidays. If three major holidays fall in his/her assignment period, the traveler is expected to work two of the holidays. Major holidays are listed below: New Year's Eve and Day Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving/Black Friday Christmas Eve and Day Compliance: Full compliance required to start on time; if not compliant in time the push back is 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation schedule. Client offer unit - candidate will be reviewed by clinical to determine clinical fit, if clinical pass and within Piedmont guidelines, candidate will be sent to the manager for final decision. Clinical screens will be sent on case-by-case basis.
