Physician Assistants are part of a multidisciplinary team but function independently with physician oversight, and are responsible for patient education, evaluation for transplant pre and post-surgery care and discharge education. Responsibilities include:* Perform admission history and physical examinations for inpatients/clinic patients* Evaluating new patients as well as post-operative and routine follow up patients in clinic and/or inpatient setting* First Assisting in the operating room* Making daily rounds and writing progress notes* Ordering and interpreting diagnostics test and labs* Developing a treatment plan for general surgery/vascular conditions within the scope of practice and in conjunction with attending surgeon.* Confers with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and/or other care providers to ensure optimum quality of patient care* Pre and post-operative care* Responding to consults both emergent and non-emergent* Perform procedures as outlined by DOP (delineation of privileges) form* Prescribing medications and other therapies* Counseling patients and families regarding care and informs patients of the necessary post-discharge care instructionsRequirements:* Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) – Required* NYS Physician Assistant License and Registration - Required* BLS Certification ( American Heart Association or American Red Cross)* ACLS Certification (American Heart Association or American Red CrossWork Schedule:* Alternate weekends* 3 Shifts a week, 2 Night and 1 Day shift* Hourly rate $84.23 plus experience differential Montefiore Medical Center is an equal employment opportunity employer.
