Job Summary
Purposeful surgical oncologist leading the comprehensive surgical management of malignant neoplasms, including diagnosis, pre‑operative, operative and post‑operative care, and trauma and critically ill patient management.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients, gather history, perform diagnostics, and design individual treatment plans including operative and non‑operative options.
- Conduct surgical procedures: breast surgery, GI oncology, hepatic tumor ablation (radiofrequency, microwave, laparoscopic), sentinel lymph node dissection, lymphatic mapping, advanced laparoscopy, and various forms of ultrasound guidance.
- Coordinate shared call and multidisciplinary care, including tumor board participation and clinical trial collaboration.
- Prescribe or administer medications, manage post‑operative care, and maintain accurate patient records.
- Teach residents and medical students, providing clinical education within the integrated health system.
- Adhere to all organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement standards.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
- Licensed medical doctor in the State of Pennsylvania.
- Board‑eligible or board‑certified (BE/BC) Surgical Oncologist.
- Experience in surgical oncology with proficiency in breast, GI, and hepatic procedures, advanced laparoscopy, ultrasound guidance, and ablation techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems (EPIC) and JCAHO‑accredited integrated health environment.
