- Join a growing team of three surgeons and four advanced practice providers in a clinic-based, academic program.
- The program provides comprehensive surgical oncology coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area.
- Surgical oncology services are also provided in several other Carilion hospitals.
- Clinical pathology is exceptionally broad, and surgeons perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity.
- Based in the Level-1 763-bed trauma and academic health center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
- The new Carilion Taubman Cancer Center is anticipated to open in 2027-2028.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive surgical oncology coverage.
- Perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity.
- Participate in teaching activities.
- Engage in research activities.
Compensation
- Min Starting Salary: $445,142
- Max Starting Salary: $696,707
- Base salary plus two-tiered bonus plan based on scorecard initiatives and production.
- You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.
- Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary.

Requirements
- MD/DO
- Board Certification/Eligible in Surgery
- Fellowship Training in Surgical Oncology (with a focus in hepatopancreatobiliary and advanced GI surgery preferred)
- Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Interest in teaching and/or research
- Academic appointment at VTCSOM is required.
