Carilion Clinic, Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine (VTCSOM), and the Department of Surgery, Section of General Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology are seeking a fellowship-trained Surgical Oncologist to join their growing team in Roanoke, Virginia. This academic, clinic-based program offers remarkable prospects in teaching, research, and clinical surgery, with a focus on hepatopancreatobiliary and advanced gastrointestinal malignancies. The role involves providing comprehensive surgical oncology coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area, supported by state-of-the-art technology and a new cancer center.

Practice Info

  • Join a growing team of three surgeons and four advanced practice providers in a clinic-based, academic program.
  • Provides comprehensive, multi-disciplinary care for patients supported by state-of-the-art technology, advanced diagnostic tools and treatment options.
  • Based in the Level-1 763-bed trauma and academic health center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
  • Provides comprehensive surgical oncology coverage to over one million people in a large, rural, multi-state area.
  • Surgical oncology services are also provided in several other Carilion hospitals.
  • Clinical pathology is exceptionally broad, and surgeons perform the full breadth of procedures of all levels of complexity.

Compensation

  • Min Starting Salary: $445,142
  • Max Starting Salary: $696,707
  • Base salary plus two-tiered bonus plan based on scorecard initiatives and production.
  • You are eligible to participate in the Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus compensation programs to improve the minimum salary.
  • Historical averages of Tier 1 and Tier 2 bonus earnings are included in the maximum salary.
  • Relocation paid in full.

Requirements

  • Academic appointment at VTCSOM is required.
  • MD/DO is required.
  • Board Certification/Eligible in Surgery is required.
  • Fellowship Training in Surgical Oncology is required.
  • Focus in hepatopancreatobiliary and advanced GI surgery is preferred.
  • Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills is required.
  • Interest in teaching and/or research is required.
