Academic Surgical Oncologist Opportunity in Southern California
Position Overview
The Department of Surgery at Loma Linda University School of Medicine is seeking a fellowship trained surgical oncologist to join our team as Assistant or Associate Professor of Surgery. The role involves caring for patients with a wide variety of complex general surgical oncology conditions and requires a commitment to research and education. The applicant will work closely with medical students, residents and fellows, and the Division currently trains one Complex General Surgical Oncology fellow and one International Surgical Oncology fellow annually.
Responsibilities & Qualifications
- Provide clinical leadership in surgical oncology, managing a variety of complex cancers including GI, endocrine, HPB resections and peritoneal surface malignancy.
- Conduct surgical training and mentorship for residents, fellows, and international trainees.
- Engage in clinical research and scholarly activities contributing to the Division’s academic portfolio.
- Maintain board certification and valid licensure in the state of California.
- Demonstrate commitment to addressing access disparities in underserved regions, including service provision in Apple Valley, CA.
Location and Travel
Position is based at the main Loma Linda campus with a portion of professional services required in Apple Valley, CA, approximately 48 miles away. The assignment will be co‑held with the Division Chief and is designed to provide equitable service across the Division.
Benefits & Compensation
Base compensation range: $325,000 - $428,000, adjusted for experience and faculty rank. Variable compensation and productivity bonuses are discussed during recruitment.
