What you can expect at your practice:

  • WellSpan is actively recruiting a skilled and accomplished vascular surgeon to become part of the WellSpan West Vascular Surgery team.
  • This position will have the opportunity to provide insights and strategies that will empower them to build a rewarding and autonomous vascular surgery program in the West Region.
  • This position offers the opportunity to support vascular services at Chambersburg Hospital, which has 274 licensed beds, and Gettysburg Hospital, which has 76 licensed beds. You will perform procedures and surgeries in one of our operating rooms, cath labs, or ambulatory surgery centers in the West Region.
  • This position is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle balance with excellent hours and a reasonable on-call schedule.
  • We offer full-time, part-time, and PRN options for flexible scheduling.
  • Collaborate with WellSpan York Vascular Team and Hospital for complex cases/patients to help support our community and patient needs

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:
  • Exercise autonomy in clinical decision-making
  • Diagnose and treat many common acute and chronic problems
  • Prescribe and manage medications and other therapies
  • Provide a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic health services
  • Perform physical exams and health histories
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies
  • Perform procedures as applicable to specialty
  • Practice in collaboration with all members of the health care team and refers to other providers when necessary
  • Engage in research, education, patient advocacy, and administrative activities
  • Acts as an educator to mid-levels, nursing, and administrative staff within the office
  • Dictates, reviews, and completes medical record upon completion of applicable visit or procedure
  • Obtains necessary CME credits in order to maintain necessary state licensure
  • Participates in monthly provider and staff meetings and other requested meetings
  • Assigns appropriate CPT and ICD9 codes to office and inpatient visits
  • Responds to messages and phone calls in a prompt and timely fashion

  • Participates in Medical Staff activities as required and/or as requested.
  • Observes the Bylaws and Rules and Regulations of the Hospital and the Medical Staff.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
  • Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) Required or
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Required
Licenses:
  • Licensed Medical Physician and Surgeon Upon Hire Required or
  • Licensed Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Upon Hire Required
Courses and Training:
  • Boarded in appropriate specialty. Upon Hire Required and
  • Completion of a residency. Upon Hire Required
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Teaching skills.
  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Good phone skills.
