- Responsibilities: Inpatient consults, emergency-department coverage, and rounding on assigned patients
- Volume: Approximately 20 patients and 10 phone consultations per shift
- Callback Rate: Approximately 15%
- Facility: 200 beds; Level III trauma designation
- EMR: Cerner
- Credentialing: Approximately 30 days
- Temporary Privileges: Available Requirements
- Board-certified or Board-Eligible General Surgeon
- Active Alabama license or IMLC eligibility
- Current ACLS and BLS
- Adult general surgery and trauma experience
- Ability to perform laparoscopic appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, and Nissen fundoplication
- Competency with chest tubes, central lines, and vascular-access devices
- Availability for the complete coverage block Clinical Details
- Evaluate inpatient and emergency-department general surgery consultations
- Round on assigned surgical patients
- Provide urgent and emergent general surgery care
- Perform required laparoscopic and chest wall or pleural procedures
- GI endoscopy, liver surgery, and broader vascular surgery skills are preferred
- No clinic, APP supervision, or teaching responsibilities
