Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Locums - Steubenville, Ohio, Urgent Need Cardiovascular Thoracic Surgery Opening

Start Date: ASAP Immediate Coverage Needed Through: 9/14/26 AM Expected Duration: Ongoing coverage as needed Coverage Needed: 1.0 FTE Reason for Coverage: Current internal and privileged locums physicians unavailable

Coverage & Setting:

• Inpatient and clinic Cardiovascular/Thoracic Surgery coverage
• Hospital average daily census: Approximately 75
• Average CT Surgery inpatient census: 4-6 patients
• Provider will round on patients on the Cardiovascular Surgery service
• Provider must evaluate and treat patients onsite, including emergent procedures; patients should not be transferred elsewhere for procedures within the required scope

Schedule & Call Requirements:

• Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
• Weeknight call: 5:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.
• Call includes coverage for emergent procedures

Patient & Surgical Volume:

• Clinic: Approximately 10-12 patients per day
• Clinic patients scheduled only when they require evaluation during the regular surgeons' absence
• Approximately 1-2 CABG procedures per week
• Other surgical cases: Approximately 5-7 on average
• 74 CABG procedures performed last year

Clinical Scope & Procedures:

• CABG - Required
• Thoracic Surgery - Required
• Vascular Surgery experience - Preferred, but not required
• Emergent surgical procedures as needed

Support & Systems:

• PA and NP support
• Medical Assistant and office supervisor
• EMR: Meditech

Requirements:

• Board Certified - Highly Preferred
• Board Eligible - Required
• Active Ohio license - Required
• ACLS - Required
