Locums - Spokane, Washington Cardiothoracic Surgery Opportunity (IMLC Accepted)

Clinical Role

Join an established cardiothoracic surgery program in Spokane, Washington, providing full-time locums coverage with weekday responsibilities, clinic coverage, and weekend call. This ongoing opportunity includes a broad range of advanced cardiothoracic procedures, with a preference for providers experienced in minimally invasive mitral surgery, Impella support, and complex aortic procedures. The ideal candidate can provide consistent long-term coverage, though providers with ongoing availability for at least two weeks per month will also be considered.

Assignment Details

Start Date:

ASAP

Provider preferred to begin as early as the first week of October.

Contract Length:

Ongoing need

Schedule:

  • Monday-Friday coverage
  • One clinic day per week
  • Daily hours: 7:00 AM-5:00 PM
  • Weekday night call: 5:00 PM-7:00 AM

Coverage Requirements:

  • Full-time provider need
  • Coverage of approximately 10-14 days per month
  • Includes weekday and weekend call coverage
  • Typically 2 weekday call nights per week
  • Weekend call coverage from Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM
  • Coverage cannot end during the middle of a weekend
  • Weekend assignments typically begin Friday at 7:00 AM or conclude Monday at 7:00 AM
  • Admissions required
  • Assigned and unassigned patients
  • 30-minute call response time required

Hospital-based cardiothoracic surgery

Clinic and inpatient responsibilities

Hospital Stroke Certified

Level III Trauma Center

Patient Population:

  • Assigned patients
  • Unassigned patients

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide cardiothoracic surgical care
  • Perform inpatient consultations
  • Participate in outpatient clinic one day per week
  • Manage perioperative patient care
  • Participate in weekday and weekend call coverage
  • Admit patients as required
  • Collaborate with hospital and surgical staff
  • Respond to calls within the required 30-minute timeframe

Procedural Requirements

Preferred Experience:

  • Minimally invasive mitral surgery

Required Experience:

  • Impella 5.5 implantation and support
  • Aortic valve conservation procedures
  • Aortic root remodeling procedures
  • Aortic root enlargement procedures

Call Responsibilities

Call Type:

Beeper call

Response Time:

30 minutes required

Call Schedule:

  • Two weekday call nights per week on average
  • Weekday call: 5:00 PM-7:00 AM
  • Weekend call: Friday 7:00 AM through Monday 7:00 AM

Requirements

  • Board Certified Cardiothoracic Surgery - Required
  • Active Washington Medical License - Required OR
  • Interstate Medical Licensure Compact (IMLC) - Accepted
  • 30-minute call response time required
