Surface Finishing Technician I

Job TitleJob Overview:Pay Range: $22.34hr - $29.54hrRequirement/Must Have:1-4 years' experience.High School Diploma or GED.Experience in sandblasting, metal finishing, deburring, or related manufacturing work preferred.Ability to operate abrasive blasting equipment and finishing tools safely and effectively.Strong attention to detail and ability to identify surface defects or inconsistencies.Comfort reading basic work instructions, drawings, or finish specifications.Physical ability to stand for long periods, lift materials, and work in PPE.Reliable, punctual, and able to work well in a team-oriented production environment.Responsibilities:Operate sandblasting or abrasive blasting equipment to remove rust, scale, coatings, and surface contaminants.Perform manual and machine-assisted finishing tasks such as deburring, grinding, sanding, polishing, or tumbling.Select appropriate blasting media, tools, and finishing methods based on material type and required surface specifications.Inspect parts before and after processing to verify finish quality, cleanliness, and dimensional accuracy.Maintain blasting cabinets, hoses, nozzles, filters, and finishing tools to ensure safe and efficient operation.Follow safety procedures, including proper use of PPE such as respirators, gloves, and protective clothing.Document work performed and communicate equipment issues, material concerns, or quality deviations to supervisors.Support general production tasks as needed to meet daily output and quality goals.
