Overview

The position will be located at Kirk U.S. Army Health Clinic, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) is an innovation installation of the Army located about 45 minutes between Baltimore, MD and Philadelphia, PA, and just 5 minutes off Interstate 95. Responsibilities

  1. Serves as the Primary Care team leader providing comprehensive outpatient care to beneficiaries ranging from newborn to geriatric age presenting with complex and interdependent acute and chronic conditions.
  2. Advises other physicians, non‑physician providers, and nursing and para‑professional staff on the care of patients with urgent, emergent, and non‑urgent medical problems.
  3. Documents clinical encounters and patient instructions in the medical record via the electronic medical record system and prepares clinical narrative summaries for both civilian and military occupational programs promptly.
  4. Provides clinical and administrative leadership to the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) team.
  5. Serves as a member of the professional medical staff following and modifying hospital plans and policies to meet accrediting agencies’ (AAAHC or TJC) requirements.
  6. Provides administrative and technical advice and assistance to physicians, nurses, and physician assistants.
  7. Provides direct primary outpatient care including gynecologic, prenatal obstetric, pediatric, and geriatric care. Performs ambulatory surgical procedures such as casting/splinting, suturing, and excisional skin biopsies.
  8. Independently formulates full treatment and management regimens based on sound diagnoses consistent with current and evidence‑based clinical practice guidelines.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience includes paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work. Transcripts will be required if qualification is based on education.

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a U.S. or Canadian medical school accredited by relevant accrediting bodies. A foreign medical degree must be equivalent to U.S. accredited schools, demonstrated by certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or equivalent.
  • Licensure: Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
  • Graduate Training: At least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as an internship or first year of residency, following graduation.
  • Residency Training: Successfully completed the accredited residency training in Family Medicine for at least four years. Experience cannot substitute for required residency training.
  • Board Certified or Eligible in Family Medicine.

Education

Foreign Education: If using foreign education to meet qualifications, credentials must be evaluated by a private organization specializing in foreign education equivalency or have been deemed equivalent to a U.S. accredited program.
