Job Title
Supports and advances patient care by applying engineering and managerial skills to healthcare technology as demonstrated by the following major responsibilities:
- Develops and maintains an equipment management program that meets current Joint Commission (TJC) and National Fire Protection Act (NFPA) requirements.
- Develops a continuing education program for clinical staff addressing the principles and application of medical instrumentation used in the delivery of health care. This includes a curriculum that addresses the safe and effective use of medical equipment and/or technology.
- Manages the recall and safety alert program for medical devices, including medical device incident investigations to assure compliance with patient safety goals.
- Advises clinical staff and leadership on medical engineering technology (including existing and emerging technology) addressing viability, long-term suitability, compatibility, and/or safety.
- Analyzes organizational and operational problems and recommends timely and economical solutions involving medical equipment spanning initial concept, installation, and effective implementation of complex medical equipment.
- Organizes work, sets priorities, delegates tasks, and meets multiple deadlines.
- Manages and directs the work of others, including Biomedical Equipment Support Specialists, lower-level Biomedical Engineers, and Electronic Technicians, to accomplish program goals and objectives.
- Translates management goals and objectives into well-coordinated and controlled biomedical operations.
- Deals effectively with individuals or groups representing widely divergent backgrounds, interests, and points of view.
- Conducts capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment spanning initial concept, installation, and effective implementation of complex medical equipment.
- Initiates new ideas and approaches and demonstrates resourcefulness.
- Manages resources such as space, equipment, supplies, and staff at the local level.
- Drafts and/or recommends local policies and directives.
- Serves as an institutional expert who directly supports the most complex and specialized clinical technology, including service, system administration, training, and quality assurance.
Work Schedule: Monday -Friday, 8:00-4:30 pm
