Work Shift: 8 Hours – Day Shifts. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40. Compensation: Salary Range: $32.50 - $52.00.

Job Description

  • Serve as a laboratory resource to other health care personnel and collaborate with other departments across the enterprise.
  • Manage validations, proficiency testing, evaluation, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Prepare documents and hold meetings related to performance appraisals and corrective action.
  • Interview, hire, counsel, discipline, and when needed, terminate employees.
  • Develop and monitor appropriate indicators for quality and continuous improvement.
  • Manage departmental operations including human resources, budget and finance, short‑ and long‑range planning, and legal and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide professional and technical expertise.
  • Implement the organization’s vision, mission, plan, and standards within the department.
  • Ensure accountability for the laboratory environment.
  • Assist in the collection and preparation of required budget information.
  • Maintain a positive work environment, developing a team approach to optimize workflow, improve customer satisfaction, and reduce errors.
  • Provide leadership in daily laboratory operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the department medical director/section director and other department leadership to oversee responsibilities.
  • Assume fiscal responsibility for areas of accountability (if applicable).
  • Perform roles as a CLIA‑qualified Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor, or Technical Consultant as needed and qualify to perform duties delegated by the CLIA Laboratory Director.
  • Travel to other enterprise locations as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in laboratory or biological sciences required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of laboratory‑related experience required.
  • Possess a national laboratory certification or laboratory specialty certification through an approved Health and Human Services agency (e.g., American Society for Clinical Pathology, ASCP) or be registry eligible.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a cytotechnologist or histotechnologist, must be licensed or have a provisional license from the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
  • Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to state requirements for license and certifications.
  • May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
