With a strong sense of purpose and commitment to operating excellence, we help rural healthcare providers fulfill their missions.The Coding Supervisor will be responsible for organizing and coordinating the daily operations of the coding team in collaboration with the Coding Manager to ensure consistent productivity and efficient operations. The Coding Supervisor monitors productivity and coding accuracy and ensures compliance with coding job competencies. They will also perform direct coding for assigned clients along with direct coding coverage for clients and/or specialties, including professional fees, hospital outpatient, surgical, observation, and inpatient.Job Duties:Abstract clinical informationTranslate medical documentation into diagnoses and procedural codes while utilizing currently accepted coding and classification systemsSequence codes according to established guidelinesEnsure accurate, timely, and appropriate assignment of ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, and modifiers for the purposes of billing, internal and external reporting, and compliance with regulatory and payer guidelinesMonitor and review client account questions in conjunction with the coding managerInterpret changes in the internal and external regulatory environment and stay current with corporate, state, and federal coding updatesSupervisor Responsibilities:Assist in oversight of coding specialists, disperses workloads, and monitor coding accuracy and productivity in conjunction with the coding managerMonitor and track productivity and billed hours of coding specialistsIdentify patterns of concern and/or compliance to report to coding manager for any required revisions, updates, and changes in staffing and/or staff workloadsAssist in monthly rounding in conjunction with the coding managerAssist in leading coding team meetings, educational sessions, and department meetings in conjunction with the coder managerMentor staff on an individual basis to evaluate work tasks/processesAssist staff in developing efficient and effective processes in conjunction with the coding managerCoordinate any required staff training with coding leadRespond to questions from coding lead and staff related to coding applications, rules, regulations, and documentation requirementsMaintain advanced knowledge of systems and billing requirementsServe as an educational resource to educate staffDemonstrate competency annually in assigned areas of workEnsure all WQ are within the established turnaround times and productivity standards are metPerform direct coding, as needed, to ensure client coding turnaround timelines are metAssist in monthly and quarterly staff audits, providing feedback, education, and mentoring on an individual basisDevelop any required follow up for staff in conjunction with the coding managerOther duties as assignedAdhere to Ovation Healthcare mission, vision, and valuesMinimum Qualifications:Five (5) years of medical coding experience required10 years preferred.Ability to work independentlyHigh degree of analytic abilitiesProficient with Microsoft OfficeAssociates or Bachelors degree preferredCertified Coder, either Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)Current knowledge of hospital outpatient coding and professional coding requiredKnowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology requiredSecurity/Access:Remote work is expected 100% of the time unless otherwise agreed uponWill have access to confidential information and must abide by the organization's privacy policies and regulations concerning this informationEquipment Used:General office equipment to include: fax, copier, computer, printer, etcTelephone
