Substitute SecretaryThis posting is to create a pool of available Long Term Substitute Secretaries to assist with the smooth and efficient operation of the school office when the school secretary is absent. In given school assignments, there may be a high degree of specialization.At the time of application, the candidate must hold or be eligible for:High school diploma or possession of a general education development (GED) program certificateBusiness education training with secretarial experience preferredAt the time of application, the candidate must have:Knowledge of basic office procedures and operation of office equipment and machinesKnowledge of basic bookkeepingSkilled in the operation of computer software, with the ability to prepare and edit documentsAbility to maintain paper and electronic records and filesDemonstrated interpersonal skills and knowledge of office protocolSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptableDemonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those job functions listed belowEssential job functions, duties, and responsibilities:Screens visitors entering the school building, ascertains the nature of their business, and directs them to the proper person or roomMaintains student attendance records and prepares related reportsProcesses student enrollments, transfers, and withdrawalsPrepares requisitions for supplies and equipmentCompiles and prepares a variety of records, reports, memorandums, and other materialsMaintains inventory as assignedOperates office machinesOrganizes and maintains office files and recordsSorts and distributes interoffice and post office mailCoordinates meetings and schedules as assignedThinks, concentrates, and interacts positively with othersComes to work regularly and promptlyWorks under stress and meets all deadlinesOther job duties:Performs related work as required or assigned by the principal or designee.Work is performed in a typical office environment and may require minimal lifting. Position requires significant periods of sedentary work using a computer, monitor, and mouse, but may also include periods of standing and walking.

Work is subject to inflexible deadlines and frequent interruptions.Non-exemptTemporary Substitute assignment. Hours reimbursed at current long term substitute pay rate. If chosen for this position, the candidate is encouraged to enroll in direct deposit.
