Substitute Program AssistantSubstitute Program Assistant works on an on-call, as needed basis. Substitute Program Assistant will be responsible for implementing educational programs, behavior intervention plans, teaching daily life skills, shadowing students in small group settings in the absence of a program assistant. A program assistant is dedicated in facilitating individualized student goals in the school while simultaneously decreasing maladaptive and dependent behaviors. Position exercises discretion and within well-defined guidelines, practices, procedures and confidentiality. Position reports to Classroom Teacher and Academic Dean/Principal.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Monitor and track student behavior as specified on their individualized education program and behavior intervention plansAssist in implementation of Professional Crisis ManagementProvide assistance with and create individualized program materialsAssist with group educational activities that include student IEP'sConferring and planning with teachers related to IEP objectives and/or modifications, and providing documentationAssist the teacher with implementation of daily lesson plansEmploy verbal and physical intervention techniques approved by TBS when students become a danger to themselves or othersPreparation of the classroom environment for learning activitiesAssisting students with physical needs (toileting, eating…)Working with audio-visual equipment, computers and/or assistive technology as related to IEP/accommodations & modificationsAttend training to develop relevant knowledge and skillsPerform other activities as assigned by classroom supervisors and school administratorsMust adhere to school rules and regulations and follow department policies and proceduresQualifications:Minimum of a high school diploma and Paraprofessional License or Substitute Teaching License requiredBachelor's degree in psychology, education, speech or related field preferredExperience in educating children with autism or related disorders preferredThe Bancroft School encourages and gives full consideration to all applicants for employment.
