Non-Instructional Aide (Cafeteria Aide)
FLSA Classification: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalency preferred
- Three acceptable character references
- Willingness to work with all types of students under varied conditions
- Previous experience supervising children preferred
- Satisfactory health status. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status
- Such alternatives to the above as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Reports To: Principal
Job Goal: To supervise students to establish and maintain a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria. To support office personnel with their daily functions.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assumes responsibility for directing students in proper behavior.
- Assumes responsibility for observing student behavior in the cafeteria.
- Assumes responsibility for providing progressive discipline.
- Supports office personnel in their daily duties.
Physical Requirements: Position holder must be able to move round the cafeteria to view student behavior, communicate effectively with students and staff. Position holder must be able to see documents clearly to sort mail and file correspondence, stand and reach to put mail in mail boxes and make copies, and be able to lift items up to (5) lbs. to put paper in the copier.
Work Environment: Work is performed in a school setting with exposure to health and/or safety hazards. The noise level in this environment is usually moderate.
