Substitute Instructional Aide/Career CoachNonunion, at-will, on-call positionThis individual will be actively involved in supporting transition services for special education students in the transition program in both work-based learning worksites (Meijer) and the classroom. The ability to understand the needs of students with disabilities is essential. Critical to the success of this role is collaboration with both educators and employers.
This position does not have a guaranteed work schedule for the school year.Required QualificationsMust have a valid Michigan driver's license with the expectation to obtain a chauffeur's licensePrevious experience with individuals with disabilitiesExperience in supporting instruction, work-based learning and transition servicesFlexible and adaptable to the needs of students and the programPhysical tolerance for the daily assigned routine, including traveling within the community, lifting up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, push, pull, and twistExperience with Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and CPI preferredCPR and First Aid training preferredEssential Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with the teacher and the transition team to support the program implementation, instructional activities and work-based learning opportunities for studentsBuild relationships with identified students through one-on-one and small group interaction in the classroom and the work-based settingSupport students, and monitor student progress and behaviors in a variety of settings including individual, small group, the classroom and job sitesDemonstrate the ability to utilize various tools for the assessment of knowledge and skillsTransport students to and from community-based experiences and work-based placementsMonitor employer's adherence to work-based agreements and risk management, and communicate concerns to the transition teacher and/or Work-based Learning CoordinatorSupport the transition program with students, parents, educators, agencies, and employersDemonstrate creative and skillful collaboration with school staff, agencies, employers, and studentsUtilize effective communication skills with students, co-workers and the publicAdhere to the expectations and requests of the Next Step Supervisor, Transition Coordinator, classroom teacher and the Work-based Learning CoordinatorSupport skills application within community and work-based learning settingsOther duties as assignedThis list of essential job responsibilities is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary.Conditions of EmploymentEmployment Date: Pending School Board approval and satisfactory completion of the pre-employment drug screen and background checks.Employment Type: Non-union, at-will, on-call positionWork Schedule: Up to 185 instructional work daysWork Day: Standard instructional staff hours: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.Wage: Pay Scale starting at $15.00/hourBenefits: MandatoryProcedure: Complete on-line application at Clair County RESA, Human Resource Department499 Range RoadMarysville, Michigan 48040Phone: FAX:
