Substitute General PreparationUnder the direction of the Assistant Manager, the Substitute General Preparation assists with operational duties such as helping to clean and maintain equipment and other kitchen areas. Primary responsibilities are to prepare and serve the food and to assist with the storage and removal of food and supplies from freezers or storage areas.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesReceive instructions from the Director, Area Food Supervisor and Assistant/Acting Lunchroom ManagerMaintain food serving areas, food storage areas (dry and refrigerated), food, equipment, small wares and other supplies in a clean, safe, economical and orderly fashion at all timesAssist with setting up the serving lines and serving meals to students in an expedient and friendly mannerPerform assigned tasks as instructed by the Assistant/Acting Manager to meet the required time schedules in a progressive preparation and serving modePerform prepping and serving of food items daily to comply with progressive serving schedules in a manner meeting all operational standards for School Nutrition which adhere to all federal, state, and city laws and District policies and regulations for health and safety compliancePerform related duties as required or any other duties which may assist in the overall operation of the cafeteriaQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED / Min. 5 year's work experience in School Nutrition/Food Service in lieu of High School diploma/GED, requiredUnderstanding of Workday softwareExperience working in Food Service preferredExperience working with childrenStrong interpersonal skillsRequires punctuality, good attendance and work record at previous employmentWorking Conditions/Physical DemandsMust be able to frequently lift up to 35 poundsMust be able to stand and walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to climb and balance, kneel, stoop and bendMust be able to reach with hands and armsRequires visual acuity and ability to hear to clearly communicate with managers, coworkers and guestsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a normal school environmentEEO StatementWe believe that equity and inclusion at CMSD is an essential call to action, a catalyst to ensure value and appreciation among all our employees, so we may be fair and welcoming now and in the future.
